December 2024 Budget Report (Galicia, Spain)
Our final month in Galicia, Spain flew by so quickly! Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to our Spanish friends and move on to new destinations.
But how was our spending during the month of December?
Take a look at our December 2024 Budget Report to see how everything turned out.
Accommodation: $255.77 USD
Although we were still staying with our friends Lisa & Stewart in December, we made several short overnight trips to other cities in Galicia.
And the hotels weren’t free.
These include one night in Pontevedra ($42.10 USD), two nights in Vigo ($73.63 USD/night), and one night in Lugo ($66.41 USD).
Activities: $21.00 USD
All of our paid activities took place in the city of Vigo, and included 2 tickets for the Christmas Ferris Wheel ($10.51 USD total) and 2 tickets for the Christmas lights train ($10.49 USD total),
Alcohol: $92.31 USD
The holidays can get a little boozy, and ours was no exception. This total was the sum of all the wine, beer, liquor, and bar runs we made with friends.
The total may not sound like a lot, but remember that alcohol (especially wine) is cheap in Spain overall. Our livers will appreciate the detoxification after we leave!
Eating Out: $420.98 USD
A much higher total for eating out than last month. But we made more overnight and day trips than in November, which forced us to go to restaurants more often.
Groceries: $225.56 USD
A much lower total for groceries than last month. But this is explained by our eating out more often and using up the bulk grocery purchases we made in November.
Medical: $10.95 USD
The total for a couple of OTC medicine purchases.
Miscellaneous: $186.48 USD
Most of this total is for the purchase of gifts for family back home, as well as a hairbrush.
Supplies: $16.23 USD
This is our total amount for basic apartment supplies.
Transportation: $49.23 USD
Our transportation expenses came from 6 rides (for 2 people) on city and intercity buses within Galicia.
Utilities/Upkeep: $46.20 USD
As usual, our biggest expense in this category came from our MyRVmail monthly fee ($20.75 USD). The remainder came from a haircut ($14.46 USD), a BNE eSim data top-off (1 GB data for 30 days at $0.94 USD), and vitamins.
Total Expenses for December 2024 = $1,324.71 USD

Despite making several overnight excursions in December, our monthly expenses weren’t really all that different from November. This is a good thing because we have been well under our preferred monthly budget of $2,500 USD in recent months!
For those keeping score, our average monthly spend for our third year of full-time travel is now $1,809.90 USD (August – December 2024).
And it is a good thing too.
Starting in January we will be back to being mobile for the foreseeable future, starting with 5 nights in the city of Barcelona.
It’s an expensive place, so we are told. Wish us luck!
