November 2024 Budget Report (Galicia, Spain)
My how time has flown by since we arrived in Galicia, Spain in late October. In fact, it has flown by so quickly I neglected to get our November 2024 budget report posted in a timely fashion!
Sorry about that.
November has been pretty calm since we are staying with our friends Lisa & Stewart in the Galician countryside. We are just helping them out with some projects and getting out to enjoy country life whenever we can!
So without further ado, let’s see what November 2024 cost us.
Accommodation: $0.00 USD
An ideal expense result to be sure. Staying with friends has its perks!
We have gone on some overnight trips (with associated hotel and activity expenses), but those costs don’t kick in until December.
Activities: $0.00 USD
Another great result, expense-wise.
We did lots of local hikes and town explorations, but nothing that involved entrance fees.
Alcohol: $91.83 USD
When in Spain, do as the Spanish do!
This expense was mostly for locally produced bottles of wine (each typically costing €2 – €4), the occasional 1L bottle of liquor de hierbas (€9 each), and going Taboada cafe/pub/tapas crawling with our friends Lisa & Stewart.
Eating Out: $262.66 USD
This total comes from menu del dias, cafes, and the occasional chocolate con churros indulgence.
The biggest chunk of this expense came from buying admission to the local all-you-can-eat pulpo/carne/empanada/wine/liquor feast that our little village held in late November ($64.29 USD for 2 people).
Groceries: $608.56 USD
A pretty big grocery bill, but since we did the majority of our eating at home it makes sense.
Granted, Rhonda has put on some pretty big feasts for our friends since we returned to Galicia. But still, our bill is pretty reasonable considering the amount of food we have been buying.
Medical: $32.33 USD
This expense comes solely from the flu vaccines we got at the local clinic in Taboada.
Miscellaneous: $150.78 USD
This expense category comes from a bunch of different random things, including the purchase of thermals and pullovers for the cold weather, several little electronics-related replacements, and gifts.
Supplies: $41.44 USD
Just the cost of keeping our living space supplied with needed things, like soap, paper towels, etcetera.
Transportation: $12.24 USD
We took regional and city buses several times when needed. For two people, fares ranged from $1.35 to $3.37 USD.
Utilities/Upkeep: $75.12 USD
As usual, our biggest expense in this category came from our MyRVmail monthly fee ($20.75 USD). The rest came from personal supplies, vitamins, and our BNE eSIM recharges ($0.96 USD for 1 GB of data for 30 days).
Total Expenses for November 2024 = $1,274.96 USD
Here is a summary of our November 2024 expenses:
Yeah, we ate our way through November it seems! Our waistlines will thank us after we leave Spain in early January 2025.
But our overall bottom line is pretty much what we expected since we didn’t have any accommodation costs for November. And it will be the same for December too!
And for those keeping score, our average monthly spend for our third year of full-time travel is now $1,931.19 USD (August – November).
Pretty cool how cheap full-time slow travel can be if you are willing to think outside the box to deal with certain living expenses.
Until next time…
